INTRODUCTION
Emilina Filippo (American, b. 1997) is an alternative/creative photographer from the Tri-State area. Her most known work covers a wide variety of subjects ranging from music photography, high-end events, to self-portraiture. She has extensive experience with 35mm film photography, 120mm medium format, & VHS video. She has produced 1 photo book titled Tri-State Utopia, being entirely 35mm photos. She initially was a model for a multitude of streetwear brands, and local clothing brands in 2013 while also photographing shows in Philly. However, her main forte is creative photography and self-portraiture. In her self-portraits, she transforms herself into different vintage/dystopian alter-egos, doing her own hair, makeup, clothing, and set design. Her project, American Century, is a series of 10 self-portraits in timeline format, illustrating her representation of a female throughout a century (1920’s-2010’s). Filippo has achieved a 'Creativity in Photography' award for American Century.
Recently, Filippo has been shooting routinely at upscale events in NYC at Saks 5th Ave, Sothebys Auction House, MOMA, etc. for new brand releases, after parties, art exhibits (Basquiat x Vice), & tv show releases (Pistol on Hulu). Currently Emilina Filippo has been working with longtime legacy music magazine Hit Parader. Photographing musicians album covers and promotional work has been a recent focus.
